HIMALAYAN OUTREACH

By on September 18, 2016

This weekend our friends Kumar and Hanna invited Jessica and I to be part of what is there usual weekly life.
We took a bus from Kathmandu to a remote village in the Himalayas which was extremely effected from the earthquakes of 2015. We were met by the young pastor Kumar (different Kumar same name) of the church we would be visiting the next morning. He helped us navigate our way down the mountain in the dark to where his family lived. He explained about the difficulties the earthquakes brought, but Kumar was more interested in praising Jesus for the victory He was bringing in their community and in his own life. He was such an optimistic young man, with so much life and energy. Arriving at his home we were greeted by his parents, siblings and his wonderful newly married wife. They were so warm and welcoming, and together we shared a beautiful Nepali meal. We then spent an amazing time in prayer and worship which was one of the most precious times we have had in Nepal. The unity of this Jesus loving family was so evident and the presence of God rested so thick in that home.

The next morning we made the trek out of the valley up in the mountains to the local church. The community was hungry for bibles, and our friends came bringing brand new books for all ages! The congregation was humming with excitement, as Kumar and Hanna gave everyone a beautiful new bible! For these believers, this was a priceless gift that they treasured more than gold.

Loving this blog with its awesome pictures and stories. You must be feeling blessed and no doubt a blessing and encouragement to those you meet. If you get the chance whilst in KTM, check out Patan Church. It buzzes in the Nepali service! 👍🏽
